Once upon a time:

The City reported an increase of nearly 1,000 more deaths as a result of COVID-19 Tuesday into Wednesday. The City listed its death toll at 36,597 as of late Wednesday, a jump of 952 since the day before. Our national perished is now close to 300,000.
